The Players Championship resumed play at noon ET on Saturday, with persistent 25-mph winds greeting players who had to finish Round 1.
As you might expect, the par-3 17th at TPC Sawgrass is the last spot you’d want to restart your round – but one group had to.
Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele, and Brooks Koepka were part of the group. At 5 under, Scheffler took the first tee and shot long, hopping and splashing over the back of the island green. At 4 under, Schauffele went second, and his shot splashed 20 yards short of the green. At 2 under, Koepka was even with Schauffele, but he was also short and wet.

Three tee strokes and three water balls are required.
Following a drop on the green’s back walkway, Scheffler was able to play his third shot. He made bogey with a two-putt from there. When it came to getting up and down from the drop zone, Schauffele also made bogey.
Meanwhile, Koepka made a double bogey from the drop zone, which isn’t unusual. This is Koepka’s sixth visit at The Players, and he’s hit at least one ball into the sea on each occasion. In his career, he has now hit eight shots into the water on the par-3 17th hole and has played the hole in 17 over par.
That’s 20 points over par. The party returned to No. 10 for Round 2 after concluding on the 18th, where the 17th did not treat them any better. Scheffler and Koepka returned to the water, while Schauffele landed on dry ground. Schauffele parred; Scheffler made a double bogey; and Koepka made a triple bogey.
