ST. SIMONS ISLAND, GA (WALB) — Scottie Scheffler arrived at the RSM Classic with a new face on his bag, only two days after finishing runner-up at the Houston Open.
Starting this week at Sea Island Resort, Scheffler will be accompanied by longtime PGA Tour caddie Ted Scott. Before the two split in September, Scott had been Bubba Watson’s caddy for nearly 15 years.
“Over the previous couple of years on Tour, I’ve gotten to know Teddy very well. Scheffler, who partnered with Watson at this year’s Zurich Classic of New Orleans, said, “He’s clearly a tremendous guy and it was definitely a nice partner for me out on the course, and I’m looking forward to getting things started this week.” “We’re getting to know one another and figuring out how things operate.”
Scheffler was happy with his first thoughts of Scott on the bag during Tuesday’s practice round: “He’s well prepared, a terrific guy to be around, and a positive influence,” Scheffler said.
Scott’s breakup with Watson was the second major caddie story of the season. Justin Thomas and his caddie Jimmy Johnson split up in September, and Thomas hired Jim “Bones” Mackay.
