Scottie Scheffler has agreed to participate in the Open test run.
On Tuesday, the reigning Masters champion announced his participation in the Genesis Scottish Open, which will take place the week before the Open Championship at St. Andrews. Scheffler competed in the event at Renaissance Club last year, finishing tied for 12th in his debut appearance on the DP World Tour.
“I’m excited to return to the Renaissance Club in July to begin an amazing two-week stay in Scotland,” he stated.
The Scottish Open, which takes place July 7-10, will be co-sanctioned by the PGA and DP World tours for the first time, meaning it will be eligible for FedExCup and Race to Dubai points. Scheffler’s announcement adds to a strong lineup that currently includes Collin Morikawa, Jordan Spieth, and Justin Thomas, with more big names anticipated to join this summer.
The Rolex Series event’s defending champion is Min Woo Lee.
Scheffler finished eighth in his debut Open appearance last year.
