RAS AL KHAIMAH, RAS AL KHAIMAH, RAS AL KHAIMAH, RAS AL KHAIMAH, R Ryan Fox fired a 9-under 63 in the first round of the Ras Al Khaimah Classic, the latest leg on the DP World Tour’s “Desert Swing,” on Thursday to grab a two-stroke lead.
At Al Hamra Golf Club, the 211th-ranked New Zealander’s lowest round on the tour included 10 birdies.
After a 65 that included five birdies in his first seven holes, Ricardo Gouveia of Portugal was in sole possession of second place.
Richard Bland, who lost in a playoff to Viktor Hovland at the Dubai Desert Classic two weeks ago, was among the nine players tied for third place on 6 under.
It will be the fourth consecutive event held in the United Arab Emirates to begin 2022.
