Rachel Heck, who has become known for her ability to win, was at the center of a record-breaking team performance in the Gunrock Invitational. Heck, a Stanford sophomore, won her eighth solo victory of her career by four shots against teammate Rose Zhang.
Heck, who was named Golfweek’s player of the week for the second time this spring, shot a 54-hole score of 18 under par at Sacramento’s Del Paso Country Club. That effort started with a perfect 9-under 63 in the first round. She only had two bogeys all week, and both of them came in the second round.
Heck, ranked No. 4 by Golfweek, is back in her rhythm after going winless in two fall starts and is just one win shy of Andrea Lee’s Stanford record.

In a press release, head coach Anne Walker commented, “It’s nice to see the Rachel Heck that we had here last spring.” “She’s overjoyed. Every shot she takes is loose, confident, and relaxed. She’s really enjoying herself with the game. “I’m thrilled to be a part of her eighth win today, and I believe there will be plenty more to come.”
