SINGAPORE, SINGAPORE — Jin Young Ko, the world number one, birdied the 18th hole on Sunday to win the HSBC Women’s World Championship in Singapore by two strokes over In Gee Chun of South Korea and Minjee Lee of Australia.
Ko has won six of her past ten outings, and her round set new LPGA Tour records for the most consecutive rounds in the 60s (15) and the most straight sub-par rounds (15). (30).
Ko was returning to the LPGA Tour after a three-month hiatus that included time with her family in South Korea followed by a few weeks of intense preparation in Palm Springs, California.
She shot a 72-hole total of 17-under 271 on the Tanjong Course at the Sentosa Golf Club. Chun, who led by a stroke after the third round, scored 69, while Lee fired 63 for the best round of the day.
“I’m just pleased of myself for recording 60s and 15 rounds in a row.” As a result, I’m overjoyed,” Ko remarked. “Right now, I’m feeling incredible.”
Jeongeun Lee6, who was tied with Ko on the 18th hole, finished with a 69 and was tied for fourth with Thailand’s Atthaya Thitikul (67).
Three players tied for sixth place, four strokes behind Ko: Hannah Green of Australia (66), Brooke Henderson of Canada (67), and Amy Yang of South Korea (68).
