The top of the leaderboard is strong halfway through the WM Phoenix Open, with Brooks Koepka, Xander Schauffele, and Patrick Cantlay all inside the top four, and former college player of the year Sahith Theegala leading.

On Friday evening, Rickie Fowler highlighted the list of missed cuts. After shooting 71-70, finishing at 1 under and missing the cut by a shot, the 2019 WMPO champion, who has previously finished second twice at TPC Scottsdale, failed to advance to the weekend for the second straight event.

Fowler, who is currently rated No. 113 in the world and is on the decline, has now missed three consecutive cuts.

Gary Woodland, a former champion, and rising sensation Sam Burns both finished 1 under and are on their way home. At even par, Tony Finau, Matt Kuchar, and local Chez Reavie were a shot behind.

Daniel Berger, who withdrew last week due to a back injury, went 1 over par. Viktor Hovland, who had two bogeys and a triple (at the par-5 15th) in his last five holes, finished at 2 over alongside Harold Varner III, who had just won in Saudi Arabia.

Preston Summerhays, an Arizona State freshman making his Tour debut, shot 75-73.
