KEEGAN BRADLEY WAS RUNNING IN PONTE VEDRA BEACH, FLORIDA.
Bradley began his second round of the Players Championship on the 10th hole Saturday as play resumed at 12 noon in this storm-delayed tournament on the Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass after finishing his first round on Friday with an even-par 72.
Bradley was 2 under for the tournament after hitting a bomb from 52 feet for birdie on the par-4 15th. Then he hit two massive drives to reach the par-5 16th.
Bradley marked his ball as he faced a 70-foot eagle putt.
Then his problems started.
The ball was moved by a gust of wind, but not the marker. Bradley grabbed the ball and placed it ahead of his initial mark after it came to a stop. However, after the gust of wind, Bradley was supposed to play from the ball’s new location, as per Rule 9.4(a). He received a two-shot penalty as a result of his blunder.
Bradley then had a three-putt bogey to finish with a double-bogey seven.
After a birdie on the second, he was 1 under for the tournament after 14 holes.
