ST. SIMONS ISLAND, GA (WALB) — Harris English lives four houses away from Patton Kizzire and can be found on the range at Sea Island with Brian Harman, Keith Mitchell, and Hudson Swafford most weeks when he isn’t playing a PGA Tour event.
The RSM Classic is a particular stop for English golfers who enjoy both the opportunity to play a tournament so close to home and a community that loves the golf lifestyle.
You’d think the four-time Tour champion would be a local superstar, but that isn’t always the case. When asked if he’s ever mistaken for Swafford on the eve of the RSM Classic, he grinned and said, “I do, for sure.”
Since their days as collegiate golf teammates at the University of Georgia, people have confused English and Swafford.
“In college, we were roommates, and teachers would get us mixed up,” English explained. “Even here, there are more people who don’t know us very well, but it’ll just be a fast ‘Hey, Hudson, hey, Harris,’ and then they’ll realize after a double-take that we’re not the one they called.” It’s entertaining. We’ve had it since we were 15 or 16 years old, and it’s only going to get worse.
