Penta B. Love, the widow of famous swing teacher Davis Love Jr. and mother of World Golf Hall of Fame golfer Davis Love III, died Monday. She was 94 years old at the time.
“While we are all heartbroken by the passing of our family leader, we are blessed with so many wonderful memories and rejoice that our faith teaches us she is at rest forever,” Davis Love III said in a statement. “We are grateful to her caregivers, as well as those in the Golden Isles and golf community, for their love and support.”
Penta Love was born in Alexis, North Carolina, but moved to St. Simons Island, Georgia, with her family after her husband was hired as a Sea Island Resort teaching professional. In 1988, Davis Love Jr. died in a plane crash.
Davis III and Mark, as well as their families, survive Love.
