During an NFL game, all it takes is the first few chords of Dave Loggins’ “Augusta” to send sports fans off the couch and into the kitchen. That solitary piano and then the soothing acoustic guitar announce the arrival of spring on a frigid winter afternoon, and for golf fans, the wait is almost over. The opening round of the 2022 Masters will begin in two weeks, on April 7.
The Masters posted a one-minute, 42-second hype video on social media on Thursday morning, using historic radio and television voiceovers, as well as the sounds of legends like Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, and Tiger Woods crushing balls.

Is it a little over the top, certainly, but it’s also unique in its own right. Augusta National Golf Club may not allow patrons to bring their phones on the course, the scoreboards around the course are still operated manually, and the price of food and drinks feels like it hasn’t been updated since the 1960s, but the club certainly knows how to use modern technology to reach out and get us excited for the start of this year’s tournament.
