SAVANNAH, Georgia – The Korn Ferry Tour Q-final School’s stage is expected to last at least another day.
Due to inclement weather, third-round play at The Landings Club was canceled on Saturday, forcing authorities to move the tournament until Monday. On both the Marshwood and Magnolia courses, the third round will now begin at 8 a.m. ET on Sunday, and the final round will begin at the same time on Monday morning.
On those days, the last tee time will be 10:12 a.m.
“I’ve never been so excited to get a text about golf in my life,” said Blayne Barber, who was probably not alone in his delight that no golf will be played Saturday due to 40-degree temps, 15-20 mph gusts, and heavy rain.
Before a tee shot was even struck on Saturday, officials declared the conditions unplayable. By 9 a.m., the had ended the day’s play. Between 5 a.m. and 10 a.m. Saturday, 1 1/2 inches of rain fell, according to the tour’s meteorologist.
If the cold front continues to make the course unusable, the Korn Ferry Tour statutes allow the competition to be extended.
Jonathan Brightwell, an Oklahoma graduate, is a shot ahead of Rafael Becker of Brazil after 36 holes at 9 under par. Barber, Vincent Norrman, Jose de Jesus Rodriguez, Daniel Summerhays, Albin Choi, Brandon Stone, John Pak, Kevin Yu, Will Gordon, and Tain Lee are among the players now ranked in the top 40 and ties, which guarantees them a starting spot next season.
