AUSTRALIA’S BARWON HEADS โ Hannah Green, a former U.S. Women’s PGA champion, scored a 4-under 68 on Saturday to extend her lead to five shots after three rounds of the Vic Open.
At the 13th Beach Golf Links, Green, who won the Women’s PGA tournament on the LPGA Tour in 2019 at Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minnesota, shot a 12-under par total of 205.
Karis Davidson (68) and Whitney Hillier (75) finished second and third, respectively. In the Vic Open, men’s and women’s tournaments are held in mixed groups.
With a 70 and a three-round total of 16-under 200, John Lyras retained his tournament-long lead in the men’s event. After a 68, fellow Australian Dimitrios Papadatos was a stroke back, and four players tied for third place, two behind Lyras.
The top three men’s finishers will qualify for the 150th British Open at St. Andrews, which will be held on the Old Course from July 14 to 17. The qualifying points were granted to the Vic Open when the New Zealand Open was canceled this year due to pandemic quarantine requirements.
