It is easy enough to modify with more protein from refried beans. Or brown some ground beef, ground turkey, or ground pork. Drain the excess grease, season, and simmer with taco seasoning. Cool and add as a layer to the dip.
EASY INGREDIENTS – BIG TASTE
Cream cheese – preferably full fat for flavor and texture
Sour cream – again full fat
Taco seasoning – homemade is best
Lettuce – iceberg works best
Cheese – cheddar, Monterey Jack, or a Mexican blend
Other toppings – like black olives, tomatoes, green onions, and jalapeno
HOW TO MAKE TACO DIP
Combine the cream cheese, sour cream, and taco seasoning in a medium-sized bowl using a hand mixer. Or stir the mixture with a sturdy wooden spoon. Then, spread the cream cheese mixture in a 9-inch pie plate or an equivalent-sized baking dish. Now layer with all your taco favorites like shredded lettuce, shredded cheddar cheese, shredded Monterey Jack cheese, sliced black olives, diced tomatoes, and chopped green onions. Then sprinkle with thin slices of jalapeno peppers. Serve with tortilla chips, corn chips, crackers, celery, carrots, or cucumbers. Prepare up to several hours in advance to save yourself even more time.
